Classical ballet - A timeless classic masterpiece, Swan Lake, the most played ballet in the world, will return in 2018 performed by the Ballet and Orchestra of the Russian National Opera for a major tour in France and in Europe.
This ballet plunges us into the mad love story of Prince Siegfried and Princess Odette. The latter is unfortunately a prisoner of the famous fate of the magician Rothbart: she turns into a swan by day and becomes woman again at night. Only the promise of eternal love can free her from this bewitchment. Siegfried then promises Odette to marry him at the ball given in his honor, but without counting on the deceit of Rothbart and his daughter Odile. Will the Prince succeed in saving his promise?
Created in 1875 by the Russian composer Piotr Tchaikovsky, this ballet was difficult to debut when it was first performed by the Bolshoi in Moscow in 1877. It was not until 1895 when Choreographer Marius Petipa took over that Swan Lake would become The greatest classic success of all time.
The dancers of the Russian National Opera, accompanied by the Orchestra, will perform at the forefront of elegance this noble work between No Pairs, Romantic Duets and Dance of the Little Swans.
A symbol of the romantic ballet, Swan Lake enchants and continues to enchant generations of spectators
