As part of the 17-18 season of the Ensemble Baroque de Nice "Play on shapes"
The greatest composers of the Baroque period each interpret the concerto in their own way, playing with the infinite possibilities offered by this form. Vivaldi alone is said to have produced more than 500, forging his European fame. From the concerto for strings where the concertino dialogues with the ripieno to the concerto for soloist which puts the oboe in the honor here, one finds there all the inventiveness of its writing and its art of the melody. His contemporary Albinoni, less prolific, is considered the first Italian to have regularly used the form in three movements. Finally, the German Bach and Telemann, inspired by their Italian models, explore perfectly all the possibilities of the instruments they put forth in their concertos: violin, oboe or the wonderful oboe d'amore, an opportunity for Gilbert Bezzina and Christophe Mazeaud to continue the dialogue established a few years ago!
