Built up against the legendary rock of Monaco, the Oceanographic Museum has been watching over the oceans for over a century. Founded by Prince Albert I, the great grandfather of HRH Prince Albert II of Monaco, it was designed from the outset as a palace totally dedicated to Art and Science. From the embellishment of its facades to those of the rooms, its whole architecture is evocative of the marine world. Since it was inaugurated on 29 March 1910, this Temple of the Sea, whose 6,500 m2 are open to the public, has made its mark as an international leader in its field. With its aquariums, historic collections, shark lagoon and the Odyssey of sea turtels, it offers visitors a unique opportunity to learn more about, love and protect the oceans.
